15.07.2006 On the last day of the PANASONIC PAN PACIFIC YOUTH FESTIVAL the Marist U14 and U18 teams consolidated Marist pole position in the overall medal count making it 4 Gold Medals in 8 divisions plus a Silver and one Bronze.
‘What an amazing outcome for the club!’ says Marist Head Coach Kurt Goldsworthy. ‘All players need to be congratulated and all coaches and managers to be thanked for the time an effort they have put in to get on top.’
Limited pool space and the short preparation make this year’s Pan Pacs results appear even greater. No other club has ever won 4 Gold at the same Pan Pacs tournament before giving evidence to the strength of the Marist Youth program.

A 5th place in the U20 Men and a 7th at the U16 Boys rounds up the overall result for Marist Red teams. But also the Blue teams provided some great results. The U14 Boys and U18 Girls for example claimed 7th place in their respective competitions, leaving some of the established club’s A – Teams behind them. This goes to show that Marist has not just a hand full of competitive players, but also the depth to consolidate its position.
This year’s Pan Pacs results suggest that Auckland remains ‘New Zealand’s Water Polo Capital’. Only Hutt managed to claim a title in the U20 Men competition, counting on the support of Maranui and QE II players.
